Tour

Day 1 Marrakech - AitBenHaddou – Ouarzazate

We pick you up at your hotel/Riad at 9:00am and travel towards the High Atlas Mountains. Cross the mountains via the highest road pass in Morocco Tizi n Tichka (2270m) which offers a spectacular scenery of mountains, valleys and Berber villages. We then visit the extraordinary sight of the Atlas Mountains Kasbah Telouet; the crumbling Kasbah belonged to the powerful Glaoui tribe remembered as the "vulture" sultan and his son who lived there until the 1950's. Once a beautiful Kasbah, but still worth the visit today as the history and drama will unfold itself.

Then you have the choice to take the main road or travel off road via the Ounila Valley which offers unparalleled views of green valleys, river and remarkable colored slopes and hillsides. On your tour we also visit the amazing UNESCO protected 16th century sight of Kasbah Ait BenHaddou; take a walk or hire a donkey to carry you across the river to this Kasbah, where you can stroll the winding streets of the Kasbah to the upper level for awe inspiring views. The night is spent in Ouarzazate or by AitBenHaddou with one of the local Berber families.

Day 2 : Ouarzazate - Skoura Oasis - Rose Valley - Dades Gorge

In the morning visit the city of Ouarzazate, its famous Kasbah Taourirt, residence of the Pasha of Marrakech. We then take the route of “the Thousand Kasbahs” towards the Skoura Oasis. We can here take a lovely off road in the oasis, passing homes of the local people, and visit the Kasbah Amridil, featured in many Moroccan brochures.

We continue to the Rose Valley (Kella Mgouna) known for production of Moroccan roses and its variety of beauty products. Your journey continues passing the strange rock creation of Tamnalt Hills, a bizare rock creation resembling monkey feet. The day ends at Dades Gorge; a deep gorge of red and mauve rock. The night is spent in Dades Gorge.

Day 3 : Dades Gorge - Todra Gorge - Merzouga - Erg Chebbi

We depart Dades Gorge to visit another deep oasis in Morocco, the Todra Gorge. Its walls are 300 m tall and at their most narrow part, they are mere 20 meters apart. Spend some time appreciating this natural wonder before resuming your trip towards the Sahara Desert.

Approaching Merzouga you will see the first sand dunes of the desert. There your camels will be waiting for you, to carry you across the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. Travel on the back of your camels, or walk during a beautiful sunset. Spend the night in the Nomad tent in the camp in the desert.

Day 4: Merzouga – Fez

Before the sun rises, you will ride the camels back to the hotel and enjoy the sun rise from the top of the sand dunes. After a shower and breakfast, we will depart Merzouga for Fez. On the way, we pass through Rissani, Erfoud, Errachidia and Medilt. We will stop for lunch and pictures of wild monkeys at the Cedar forests of Azrou before arriving in Fez, where we take you to your riad or hotel.
